There is a saying that I absolutely love, from Thomas Carlyle, and it says, “He who has health, has hope, and he who has hope, has everything.”
There is so much truth to that statement!
People are happier and can do so much more in their lives when they have health, and when their health is compromised, it's a frightening place to be! Depression and anxiety can slip in and wreak havoc on the physical and emotional wellbeing of a person.
How healthy are you?
Now that you know that being healthier leads to a happier life, we need to figure out where you are with your health and what you may need to focus on by asking yourself some important questions.
1. Diet
Are you eating healthy? Are you keeping fast food out of your diet? Are you watching processed foods? Are you limiting your intake of dairy and gluten?
I know that for some people cutting out the bad foods in a diet can be easy, but for some, it can be a huge struggle. That’s why it’s best to start slow. However, if you’re allergic to gluten or dairy or suffer from other health-related complications, such as inflammation, a strict diet change is very important. But, be kind to yourself if you slip!
2. Clean the Bad Out of Your Body
We put so much junk into our bodies and even though we can make the necessary changes when we’re aware of this, it’s helpful to know that there is something you can do to help get rid of it! You can clean up the harmful food you’re putting in your body by drinking water!
Are you drinking enough water?
According to WebMD, you should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water every single day! Again, not everyone does this perfectly either, but I’d like to share with you a few tips to help you enjoy drinking water.
Increase Your Water with Healthy Add-ins
Fresh Fruit
I love having fresh limes and lemons cut up to put it in my water! Try adding fresh cut up fruit to put into your water. Fresh fruit helps flavor your water deliciously and will be much easier to drink!
Essential Oils
Isagenix now carries essential oils and most of them are ingestible. You can put them in your water for great health and easy flavoring! You don't have to worry about wasting or having extra fresh fruit lying around either.
I highly recommend the lemon oil! You only need 2 drops for a great splash of flavor & for added health benefits.
Isagenix also carries essential oil “content drops” that help you with hunger pains, so if you’re on a weight loss journey, that’s a great drop to add to your water too!
Hydrate Products
Another great way to add flavor to your water is to drink hydrate products that are good versions of an all natural electrolyte replacement drink!
They’re like a Gatorade or a sports aid but have a lot less sugar and the sugar is all natural. It's a great way to flavor your water, plus it gives your body some extra vitamin B and some electrolytes which replaces it and gives you some energy too!
Seltzer Water
A popular replacement for plain water is “Lacroix”; an all natural seltzer water that has no artificial sweeteners in it. There are several on the market so you can find one that you might enjoy that replaces that soda bubbly!
In fact, this is a great alternative to help you to stop drinking pop! This way you can still enjoy that tantalizing fizz every once in a while!
3. Get Proper Sleep
Are you getting enough sleep?
A great way to find out is to track your sleep! There are some excellent trackers out there that you can wear at night to monitor how you sleep. It’s best to get 7-8 hours of sleep to feel good and productive the next day. Here are some helpful tips to help you set yourself up for 7-8 hours of sleep.
- Try to start your bedtime routine early enough to give yourself enough time to prepare.
- Run an oil diffuser with a relaxing essential oil. Lavender is a wonderful oil to help get you in a calm-down mode.
- Rub oils on the bottom of your feet to add an additional touch of calm.
- Drink an ionix tea which has adaptogenic herbs which really work to help get a great night's sleep.
- Turn off the TV or any blue light to help your eyes and brain settle down for the dark.
- Read a calming book.
- Do some Bible study and prayer meditation.
- Write down or think of all the things you’re grateful for to put your mind in a great state for rest.
Think about what you can do and how you can make some changes to give yourself enough sleep at night! You’ll thank yourself for it!
4. Lower Your Stress
Alright, now we need to ask ourselves; what are we doing to combat stress?
That's a big one!
It’s terrible the havoc that stress does on our physical well being! So many times people struggle with weight loss and it's simply because they have so much stress in their life.
If you find you struggle losing weight after trying countless weight loss programs and working out, ask yourself if you have any stress in your life. While we can’t avoid stress completely, we can be aware of our major stressors and handle them better. Who knows, you could even lose 10 pounds by getting rid of that stressor!
Where can you eliminate stress in your life? Where can you maybe ask for some help? Let’s look into different ways to lower your stress levels!
Ask for Help
A lot of times life can get crazy and busy which makes us run around all over the place with so many things to do that we end up with too much on our plates! Sometimes we just have to ask for help.
We could never do all that we do if we didn't have help!
- Hire someone to clean for you.
- Hire someone to help you in your business or hire someone to take care of your kids for a day.
- Ask your husband to help you with your accounting and tax work and things that you maybe don’t enjoy that he might actually enjoy doing.
- Ask your kids to help out more.
We all want to be Superwoman and do it all but we need to realize and accept it’s ok to need help and to ask for it!
Where can you maybe ask for some help and maybe delegate some tasks so that you are less stressed?
Learn to Say No or Delegate
Maybe you need to learn to say no to some things because sometimes we overextend ourselves, and then we end up so overly stressed because we have way too much on our calendar and plate.

5. Harmful Toxins
Alright, the last thing I'm going to address with you is toxins.
Even if you eat healthy, eat clean, go to the gym, work out, get enough sleep; unfortunately, toxicity is an environmental thing we don't have much control over.
What are some examples of harmful toxins? Let me share some real-life examples.
- When you spray your hair with hairspray that is a toxin.
- When you get your nails done, you’re inhaling toxins.
- When you're out driving around car pollution happens which is also toxin.
- You could have a beautiful vegetable garden in your backyard and watch airplanes fly above your garden; all of that is toxins.
What are you doing to address that?
Cleansing is our solution to toxicity in the body!
Your body protects yourself from toxins by wrapping fat cells around the toxins. When you can rid your body of the toxins, you're able to get to that healthy weight. Therefore, if you're struggling with a 5-10 pound extra weight loss, you might be able to lose that by taking care of ridding your body of toxins.
